Our Team

History

87 Years in the Making

Founded in 1936 by Everett David Swett, E.D.Swett addressed a need to rebuild and replace roadways and bridges that were damaged by New England’s harsh floods.  In 1957, the business expanded markets to include New Hampshire and Vermont territories. As the business grew, Everett David Swett sold the company to Richard Cole in 1973 who later passed it on to his son Stephen Cole.  With no family members to follow in Stephen’s footsteps, he turned the firm into an employee-owned business (ESOP), overseen by a Board of Directors, to insure the growth of the company and to provide the committed employees to E.D. Swett, Inc. with continuous employment and prosperity. This secure way of ensuring sustainability as a business has also built a great “all-hands-on-deck” mentality because teamwork is truly ingrained among the employees. On June 2, 2017, The Board of Directors elected Christopher Robert, P.E. to become the 5th president in its history. Chris’s new approach of management style is moving the company into the 21st century with renewed accountability, safety awareness, and quality craftsmanship. Since 1936, E.D.Swett established even more respect among New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont.
