I-93 Rapid Bridge Replacements

To minimize the impact on the I-93 traffic, E.D. Swett was awarded a $3.5 million dollar rapid bridge contract to replace two, 90-foot span bridge decks (one northbound and one southbound). Each deck replacement had to be completed within a time frame of 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Friday through Monday, or be imposed with large hourly liquidated damages. In conjunction with the rapid deck replacement, over 3,000 linear feet of temporary jersey barrier had to be moved. To accommodate traffic flows within the closed time frames, the barrier had to be moved twice within the weekend time shut down. 

The dedicated team met both weekend challenges and the project was a success.
