Established in 1936, E.D. Swett is an employee-owned bridge construction company and bonded general contractor based in Concord, NH. Primarily focusing on heavy highway and bridge construction projects, we are experienced in many disciplines of construction ranging from deep cofferdams and earth and water retaining walls to concrete finishing. We also provide services for operations later in the life cycle of infrastructure. We can provide access to any part of bridges and are experienced in bridge preservation techniques as well as provide a bridge washing service.

Bridge Construction

In our 84 years of business, bridge construction had been the primary focus of E.D. Swett, Inc. From major interstate overpasses to privately owned structures, we have the experience and expertise to complete any project. Excelling in technically challenging bridges, we are able to safely and efficiently provide solutions to any task.

Complex Rehabilitation

Aging infrastructure is an ever-present challenge to our nation’s roadways. E.D. Swett, Inc. is especially equipped to face those challenges. Having extensive experience in rehabilitation, we are able to extend the design life of many structures. We have the materials and equipment that allow us to provide access to any place on existing structures while provided any necessary traffic control.

Marine Construction

We own multiple barges that are configurable to suit the needs of any project. This allows us to take our land-based operations to the water. Anything from water access, pile driving or heaving lifting. We have the experience and equipment to do it safely and effectively.

Pile Driving / Cofferdams

In addition to bridge construction, E.D. Swett, Inc. specializes in pile driving and cofferdams. We have extensive experience with driving piles and sheets in all types of soils. Our inhouse engineers are able to design cofferdams to suit the needs of the project. In addition, we are experienced in soil anchors and tieback walls. One of the many tools to suit any shoring and deep excavation needs.

Bridge Washing

One of the relatively new services that E.D. Swett, Inc. provides. Bridge washing provides bridge owners an opportunity to further extend the life of their investments and should be a part of any scheduled bridge maintenance program. Services include a thorough pressure washing of the sidewalks, curb lines, and abutment seats. Expansion joints and drains are also cleared of debris. Bridge washing in this manner provides an opportunity for through inspection of bearings and expansion joints, allowing owners to make educated decisions when scheduling preventative maintenance.

Mass Concrete

We are especially equipped to manage and pour mass concrete with typical continuous pours of about 120 cubic yards to continuous deck pours of 375 cubic yards. We own a wide variety of forming systems that allows us to quickly and efficiently form and pour anything form conventional decks to monolithic cast pieces. Weather does not get in the way of our operations. We have the means to provide heating in the winter and maintain a wet cure in the summer.
